7 Great "Bullet Time" Moments

The new movie Wanted features lots of slo-mo bullet play, but how does it match up against these elegantly flying shells?

The Matrix Reloaded
You have to give credit to the movie that coined the term "bullet time" in the first place. But the best example of it came in the sequel, where we follow a hunk of lead as it travels through space and right into Trinity's gut. Ouch.
Superman Returns
You'll remember this scene because it's the second of only two friggin' action sequences in this entire movie. As Supes approaches a ridiculously over-armed crook, we wonder if Kal-El's eyeballs are as bulletproof as the rest of him. Wonder no more.
Natural Born Killers
Mickey and Mallory's visit to a truck stop diner ends, predictably, with more than just a slice of pie. Skip to the 4:20 mark (hey-oh) for a trip with Mickey's bullet right up—then through—a diner matron's face. (Bonus: seconds later, you get a knife's eye view, too).
Three Kings
Not content to simply show the entry wound, this ol'-school Iraq War drama goes that extra mile, depicting the bullet as it rips its way through the dude's internal plumbing. We're not sure which organ spews Ecto Cooler when it gets ruptured, but we're not dying to find out.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Skip to the 3:00 mark for Jack Sparrow's retro spin on the magic bullet technique. Why is he shooting barrels? Why is a giant squid attacking them? Um, got eight or nine hours to watch the Pirates trilogy? OK, got eight or nine hours for us to explain it all to you?
Sniper
If you haven't seen this Tom Berenger flick, shame on you. As you can see, Tom plays a sniper so badass he can kill other snipers by shooting through their viewfinders. Talk about shaming a guy on his home turf. (4:00 mark)
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Forget hollow points—we want a gun that shoots ethnic stereotypes! Think how entertaining that would be, especially after downing a bottle of Wild Turkey. Well, to be honest, everything looks crudely animated and cute when we're bombed, but that's just us (and Walt Disney).
