New Gears of War 2 Documentary: Marcus Fenix = Cap'n Crunch

capncrunch.jpgNovember can't come quickly enough and every new video and trailer is not helping. With that said, Epic dropped into our laps a lengthy documentary on one of the more underrated aspects of Gears of War 2: the sound. One specific sound they were going for: the meaty, crunchy sound of Marcus Fenix's boot stomping on an opponent's head. Me thinks they nailed it.

Cliffy B and the GoW crew give you the lowdown with the new video, called "Touch of Sound":

"Many people don't realize how much sound contributes to immersion in a game. This video reveals how much thought and effort Epic Games puts into the incredibly rich variety of sounds in Gears of War 2: from voice acting to musical score, sound effects and more."

Gears of War 2 will be available for the Xbox 360 on November 7th. For more info, check out the official site.

The upcoming flight simulator/air combat game tagged with the moniker of Tom Clancy (Rainbow Six Vegas, Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, EndWar) has given you more to look forward to. GeoEye has partnered with Ubisoft to provide high-res images taken from it's IKONOS satellite for use as backdrop in the game. What's that mean for you? Authentic, accurate settings of over 16 international location, including Rio de Janeiro, Cape Canaveral, and the Middle East.

"High-resolution satellite imaging is moving from the black world of intelligence to the white world of commerce and Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X will bring that reality to gamers," said Mark Brender, vice president, corporate communications and marketing at GeoEye. "With video game graphics becoming more realistic, the use of high-quality photographic ground textures in H.A.W.X adds true photo-realism to the air combat experience."

Trailer: NHL 09's New Features Amaze Our Resident Hockey Nerd

It's almost September which means EA Sports is ready to unleash it's avalanche of 09 sports games, including the forthcoming NHL 09. EA released a new developer walkthrough detailing the new features of this year's iteration including the addition of the defensive skill stick, flip dumps, one-handed dekes, protect the puck. There is also a new mode called "Be A Pro" which puts you into the minor leagues of the NHL—the AHL—and you have to climb your way into a professional league. Kinda nifty for those who follow hockey, at least that's what our hockey nut editor meant by his "Holy shit. This is great!" comment when he saw the video. Now get to it and watch.
