Holy BASE jumping, Batman. The trailer kicks off with Bats leaping off one of Gotham City's tallest buildings… Just for the hell of it? Maybe after beating Ra's Al Ghul in the last movie, he's a little bit bored. That should change.

Gary Oldman returns as Jim Gordon, Batman's ally on the Gotham Police Force. Notice the building reflected in the car window? That's a real building in Chicago; and if you go there in full clown makeup with a bag of feathers and a blowtorch at noon on the day The Dark Knight opens, you'll… OK, that's a lie. Seriously, enough with the viral marketing.

If you'll recall the end of the last movie, the city's district attorney was killed, leaving a primo job opening. Unfortunately for Harvey Dent here, the Monster.com ad read: "Wanted: Charismatic District Attorney, doggedness and cleft chin a plus. Please send salary requirements. Potential new supervillains need not apply." Whoops! So close!

The movie isn't all BASE jumping and backroom meetings—there's also some brand-new romantic entanglements for Bruce Wayne. New D.A. Harvey Dent has his eyes on Wayne's girlfriend, Rachel Dawes. This is not the only thing they'll fail to see eye to eye on in this movie.

Man, Scientology's been hell on Katie Holmes, huh? We kid. Rachel Dawes is now being played by Maggie Gyllenhaal because, presumably, Rachel will have more to do than pass out in this movie. Here, she tells Bruce she's sticking with Dent because at least with him she doesn't have to deal with any weird-ass alter egos. (Snicker.)
