What We’re Watching This Week: ‘Black Mirror,’ Audi, and ‘Inherent Vice’

We know we’re having a good week when Ridley Scott is our second choice.

Monday

The Andrettis are getting the first open-wheel test drive on the newly revamped NOLA Motorsports Park track in Avondale. The session – part of the Mazda Road to Indy program – is open to the public and we fully intend to be part of that public. The Grand Prix of Louisiana has never been as big (or as weird) a race as it should be. Indy Racing needs a bit of Cajun spice and investing in Louisiana may be how they finally get it.

Come nightfall, when the Mazdas go to sleep, we’ll probably check out “Black Mirror,” the Jon Hamm/BBC show that our British friends won’t shut up about. It’s on Netflix and, well, “Auntie” has been on a roll.

Tuesday

Maybe you haven’t heard of the Electric Forest concert in Rothbury, Michigan, but tickets go on sale on December 9 and we fully intend to show up this year. Coachella it ain’t, but psychadelia and the North Woods mix well. Next year, Ms. Lauryn Hill will be showing up (though it’s hard to picture her camping). We’re stocking up on blaze orange already.

The Victoria’s Secret fashion show also airs. Just saying.

Wednesday

Brewcade, a craft beer pub stock with vintage video game machines, is opening in San Francisco. Will it equal Williamsburg’s Barcade? Austin’s Recess? Chicago’s Headquarters Beercade? Is the arcade the future of the bar? We’ve got questions.

Thursday

Audi’s new A3 Cabriolet is finally available to test drive. It’s not necessarily a car we covet, but we’re down for a spin – if only because we want to put the top down and pretend it’s summer.

It’s never to early to start thinking about next year’s fantasy football draft. If Tre Mason goes off against the Cardinals, his upside will be undeniable and he’ll probably barge his way into the top 10. If not, well, the Rams are screwed.

Friday

Double feature: Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Inherent Vice” and Ridley Scott’s “Exodus: Gods and Kings.” The stoner noir and the biblical epic couldn’t have less in common, but we’re pumped about both.

Weekend

And Chris Rock has a new movie too. Chris Rock is great.
