This Beer Tastes Like Balls

Wynkoop Brewery creates a brew made from bull’s testicles. No, we don’t know why, either.

On April 1, Wynkoop Brewery in Colorado released a video  announcing their newest creation: Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout, a craft beer made from the freshest regional ingredients, including Coloradoans’ favorite fried reproductive organ, bull testicles. Naturally, the video turned out to be an April Fool’s prank, bumming out locals  and other weirdos who were genuinely thirsty for testicles.

But with the outpouring of support and interest for the fictional ‘nad ale, Wynkoop Brewery has decided to make their spoof a reality, and on October 5, they’ll tap the first keg of Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout. Made with Colorado-grown base malts, roasted barley, and Styrian Goldings hops, the 8-barrel batch also includes 25 pounds of freshly castrated bull testicles, sliced and roasted to perfection. The brewer notes that the beer is an “assertive foreign-style stout” with “deep flavors of chocolate syrup, Kahlua, and espresso, along with a palpable level of alcohol and a savory umami-like note.” And also, we presume, a salty nut finish.
