7 Awesome Holiday Party Scenes

Clips from American Psycho, Goodfellas, and 5 other flicks that will fill you with holiday cheer!

Clips from American Psycho, Goodfellas, and five other flicks that will fill you with holiday cheer!

American Psycho (2000)

Patrick Bateman spreads holiday cheer the old-fashioned way: with some new business cards and a few murders. To be fair, if we had to listen to Reese Witherspoon say “Merry X-Mas!” in that voice over and over, we would probably be serial killers, too.

Die Hard (1988)

This classic Bruce Willis flick (which returns with a brand-new installment in 2013!) taught us two important things: First, if John McClane shows up at your company holiday party, some people are probably going to die. Hard. Second, never trust anyone named Hans Gruber, because, obviously. Yippee-ki-yay, motherfuckers!

L.A. Confidential (1997)

Sure, “Bloody Christmas” makes it sound really bad, but there’s really nothing to see here—just a couple of wasted, racist, corrupt Los Angeles detectives beating the shit out of a few suspects in the middle of the office holiday party. Totally normal.

Trading Places (1983)

This is the story of what happens when a disgraced former big-wig (Dan Aykroyd) gets shitfaced, throws on a Santa suit, and crashes the company holiday party, hoping to prove that the young wunderkind who’s replaced him (Eddie Murphy) is a fraud (and a drug dealer). In other words, it’s a lot like what might happen if Mitt Romney started drinking.

Goodfellas (1990)

“Just to avoid any confusion, Mr. De Niro, after a major heist, we’re supposed to go out and spend a lot of money on really flashy things like cars and fur coats for our gumars and what not, right? What? No? And also you’re going to murder us? Perfect.”

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005)

Robert Downey Jr is out of his element at this Los Angeles holiday party. Scroll to around 00:14 to watch him give a great speech to some asshole, and then get his ass kicked.

Arrested Development – “Afternoon Delight” (2004)

Ok, fine, so technically Arrested Development is a TV show and not a movie—YET!—but it’s just too good to exclude. Gob’s sexual harassment speech to employees at the annual Bluth Company Christmas party makes whatever weird thing your boss did after too much egg nog look like amateur night.
