Tuesday Tunes Day

Bringing you the week’s best new music.

When Bob Dylan released his self-titled first album, John F. Kennedy was still president, Johnny Carson had just taken over the Tonight Show, and John Glenn became the first American to orbit Earth. Fifty years later, and damned if Dylan isn’t still the coolest cat on the block. His 35th studio album, Tempest – a dark, ragged but totally rocking meditation on life and death – hit’s shelves today. How dark is it? Check out the utterly batshit  video for the deceptively upbeat first single, Duquesne Whistle, which is essentially what would happen if a Mentos commercial took a seriously twisted turn.

Also out today:

Avett Brothers, The Carpenter

DMX, Undisputed

Dave Matthews Band, Away From the World

The Raveonettes, Observator

The xx, Coexist

ZZ Top, La Futura
