Did Google Earth Just Capture The First Images of the Kraken Sea Monster?

Antarctica just got a whole lot more monstrous.

Google Earth is a fun add-on application that can be used to spot numerous things: Old apartments, unfortunately timed break-ins, and occasionally, a legendary sea monster.

The internet became immersed in a whirlpool of frothy conspiracies after one curious YouTuber posted a video sharing footage he found while perusing around coordinates right off the coast of Antarctica.

If you happen to check out 63° 2’56.73″S 60°57’32.38″W, you may bare witness to the Kraken, a mythical beast similar to a giant squid said to dwell near Norway and Greenland. If you haven’t seen Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, here’s what you need to know: It’s big. Terrifyingly big.

Call it a rock, an otherworldly land mass, or a dear relative to the Loch Ness monster. Whatever it is, don’t expect any late night swims near Deception Island anytime soon.
