It was a close call, but hockey has returned. While the season is shorter, the action is just as fast. Here’s what went on in the NHL week that was.

The Canadiens Will Not Be Embarrassed!


Well, only the once, apparently. The Habs fell to the Maple Leafs 6-0 at home 2 weeks ago and have gone 6-0-1 since, pulling up to just behind the Penguins in the East. On top of that, Max Pacioretty was exonerated from a suspension after a dubious boarding call took the Rangers’ Ryan McDonagh out of the game and possibly more of the Blueshirts’ underwhelming season. If anything gives you a get-out-of-jail-free card though, it’s this

The Blues Have Goalies For Days.


Due to an injury to Jaroslav Halak, Jake Allen was called up from Peoria last week to start for the slow-starting Brian Elliot. The young’un went 3-1-0 in addition to posting this wonder-save against the Flames.  On Thursday, Allen was sent back down to the AHL, likely because he didn’t scream “NOT IN MY HOUSE” after making that grab.

The Bruins, Flyers, and Penguins Are Picking Up Steam.
