Thrill-Seekers Arrested for Jumping off the World Trade Center

Watch the spectacular footage before the video is inevitably taken down.

Last week we told you about the New Jersey teen who slipped past security and hung out at the top of the World Trade Center for two hours before anybody noticed. Now, it seems that back in September, three thrill-seekers snuck into the still-under-construction 1 World Trade Center, leapt off the top, and filmed it for good measure. A fourth man served as a lookout down below. At the time, the stunt caused concern over the security at the 1,776-foot building, but after their arrest yesterday, Andrew Rossig, 33, Marco Markovich, 27, and James Brady, 32 — who actually worked construction on the site at the time of the incident — pointed out that there was no ill-intention. In fact, they say they plan to donate proceeds from their YouTube clip to families of the victims of 9/11.

“This was never intended to be a publicity stunt,” said Rossig’s attorney, Timothy Parlatore. “However, since the police department has turned it into something of a spectacle, the defendants are hoping the video can be used for some good.”

Say what you will about their intentions – the video is amazing.

“The Freedom Tower being the biggest building in the western hemisphere, it’s just a fair amount of free-fall time and you really get to enjoy the view of the city and see it from a different perspective,” said Rossig. At the arraignment yesterday, the group was charged with burglary, reckless endangerment, and jumping from a structure. They were freed on $3,500 bail.
