Throwback Thursday: March 2006

Check out what we were up to in March of ’06. Don’t worry, we’ll leave out our middle school class picture.

Every week, we send someone stumbling into the dark Maxim archives to see what we were up to way back when. This week we’re going back to March of ’06, when Kristen Bell was the P.I. we wanted to be frisked by, we were huge fans of Four Kings, and the FSU Cowgirls were the sole reason we applied to college.

Cover Girl: Kristen Bell

Where You’ve Seen Her: Like most men, we have a lot of respect (and lust) for women who can kick more ass than we can, especially when it comes as a surprise. Enter Kristen Bell: the cute blonde actress who established herself playing Veronica Mars, a teenage P.I. trying to get to the bottom of her best friend’s murder. During the first year of filming Kristen was targeted for a bunch of teenage roles despite her real age of 24, playing a tortured teen in horror flick Pulse and as a dorky collegiate’s dream girl in Fifty Pills. When we interviewed her she taught us a valuable lesson: it really does pay to look this good.

Where She Is Now: After Veronica Mars was canceled in 2007, Kristen landed the title role in the hilarious Forgetting Sarah Marshall opposite Jason Segel. She went on to star in hits like Movie 43, Couples Retreat, and Scream 4. But the project we’re most excited about is the upcoming Veronica Mars movie.

Featuring:

Programming Prophet

It’s hard to judge our predecessors on their TV choices when we’re currently tuning in to Sharknado in between episodes of Real Housewives of New Jersey, but that doesn’t mean we’re not going to try. Not only did our token TV psychic predict that shows like Windfall and Four Kings would enjoy a long television career, he also believed that Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ series The New Adventures of Old Christine would quickly “crash and burn.” In the end, that turned out to be the only show that actually lasted more than one season. We really hope his lack of insight won’t tarnish the otherwise gleaming reputation of the global psychic community.

Yeehaw! FSU Cowgirls

Three students attending Florida State University took the college sports world by storm when they were caught on camera cheering for their home team in the most spirited uniform ever: low-cut crop tops and cowboy hats. It’s a no-brainer that college girls are just about the hottest specimens on Earth, what with their down-for-anything attitude and irresponsible drinking habits (we have so much in common!), but these three started a revolution that has been carried on by female students ever since. Unfortunately, not much more can be said about the three originals. Now in their late 20s/early 30s, most have been out of the spotlight for some time. Except for Jenn Sterger, who probably still has Brett Favre’s dick pics.
