12-21-12: Probably Not the End of the World

Despite all signs to the contrary, the end of the Mayan calendar does not really mean anything, according to actual Mayans.

Despite what some extreme believers have claimed about the impending apocalypse, set to arrive on the last day of the Mayan calendar (December 21st, 2012), the Mayans of Guatemala would like to offer a different message: reaffirm your life, and save your money for things other than Spam, batteries, and canteens.

The catastrophic predictions for this upcoming December (which, if they panned out, would reportedly have only one survivor: John Cusack) are being shot down by real Mayans who are actually still alive and speaking out, calling the prophecies “lies” and “folklore-for-profit."

Instead, they assert that the end of the calendar merely symbolizes the beginning of a new time cycle, in which there should be harmony and balance between humanity and nature.

Whatever the hell that means.

More funny please.
