This Weekend in Being a Horrible Racist

No weekend is a good one to be racist, but this one was especially rough.

Clippers owner and known racist Donald Sterling was exposed this weekend to be, in fact, still actively racist, when a tape of him chiding his girlfriend over her association with black people was leaked on the internet. As the tape made the rounds, the murderer’s row of powerful people laying the smackdown on Sterling grew – Barack Obama, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and finally, the Clippers themselves. But Donald Sterling wasn’t the only racist dick who is having trouble getting a dinner reservation this week.

Cliven Bundy, a conservative folk hero the likes of whom hasn’t been seen since Joe the Plumber, who rose to fame over a standoff concerning his cattle and grazing fees, is under fire after he was quoted as saying that black people may have had it better under slavery. Actually he isn’t really under fire, because he’s a rancher from Nevada who is of no consequence to pretty much every single person in America, but some Republicans who have aligned themselves with Bundy over his previous stance are backing away from him. Backing away by sprinting as fast as they can in the other direction.

Finally, some “being an international racist asshole” news. During a match against Villarreal, Barcelona’s Dani Alves noticed a banana that was tossed at him, in an unfortunately common racist action. But, because Dani Alves is the best, the right back picked up the banana, took a big ol’ bite, tossed the peel, and then went on with his corner-kicking business. Because bananas are a delicious way to get your daily intake of potassium, not for being a hateful jagoff.
