Manufacturer: Canon
Price: $399

The skinny:
Canon's most stylish PowerShot also packs some serious power under the hood, or whatever the camera equivalent of a hood is.
The good:
We'll start with image quality, since that's obviously the most important element. We were really impressed by how good the photos came out. 12 megapixels is a lot to shove into a little cam like this, but the distortion and artifacts are a total non-factor. The color reproduction is excellent and the image stablizer is about as good as image stablizers get. Even after a few 2 liters of Mountain Dew we were still getting sharp results. The slick titanium body is one of the coolest cases we've seen on any digicam to date. It's not heavy, but it has a nice weight that makes it feel expensive and not cheap like some others. The video quality is impressive, too even in low light which generally has more grain than a bread factory.
The bad:
The flash can be a little overpowering at times when you get up close and personal and scratches and dings are hard to come by but are fairly visible once they show up (Sorry Canon!)
The verdict:
With tons of firepower and lots of setting options, we were pretty impressed with the 950 IS all around. If nothing else, the sweet titanium case will make it stand out from your buddies cams. We're taking it to CES for some hardcore testing, so look for shots from it here on Maxim.com
