Corsair's newest ultra-tough flash drive showed up about two weeks ago and I've been trying to give it some real world testing before posting about it. Now that it has spent a lot of time kicking around in my pocket and gouging up the rest of drives on my keychain, it's about time for a write-up. First things first, here's a list of all of the ill-advised things we have done to test its durability:
Even after all of that, the Survivor didn't drop a single byte of data. Of course all that toughness makes it a little bulkier than the traditional flash drive, but with 32 GB of storage, I'm still amazed that I can keep it on my keychain. Transfers were fast and the encryption was excellent as far as I can tell. No one has stolen my identity since it showed up and I'm going to assume I have this little guy to thank.
Even if you don't go all out and spend the $269 on the 32 GB version, this bad boy seems like a worth while investment for people who are tough on their flash drives. The 4 GB version will only run you about $30 on sale, which is a hell of a deal when you compare it against losing a bunch of data when you drop your drive in the toilet.
