Let Them Eat Oysters

As Vince Vaughn established in Wedding Crashers, phenomenal finger food is the cornerstone of any social event. Which means you can't leave the grub at your new years bash up to chance. Sure, your friends will prob bring a few bags of chips, and you could compliment their efforts with a batch of your famous seven layer dip; but, do you really want to send everyone packing for 2010 doubled over with gas pains? Certainly not. This is new years, for crying out loud, so serve something completely unexpected and totally memorable.

Consider these two words: raw bar. Seriously, it makes perfect sense.  By this point in the Holidays, people will be sick of rich turkey dinners and creamy deserts, so why not give them some lighter, yet equally delicious fair? Nothing says dazzle like some crushed ice, blue point oysters, plus a few clams, mussels and prawns sprinkled in for good measure. Scatter some green bottles of Heineken in the ice as well and guests will think they've stumbled across a lost treasure of indulgence.
