Unlike VH1 reality show spin-offs, World War II first-person shooters continue to be engaging, entertaining, and almost as fresh as the originals. So while Call of Duty 2 won't let you kill Gene Simmons, it does allow you to kill a much wider variety of targets with more open-ended battlefields. Your squadmates are also smarter in this sequel, finding cover or laying down and suppressing fire as the situation warrants. Made by Infinity Ward—who did the original and Medal of Honor: Allied Assault—Call of Duty 2 isn't a bold new game, but subtle improvements and new historical battles deliver a good reason to keep fighting.
