Cool Boarders 2001

We suspect that if you scrape away the Raggedy Andy clothes and “Do the Dew” ’tude, snowboarding might actually be a decent sport. But don’t leave it to this pile of mountain dung to convince you. On paper Cool Boarders 2001 has all the right moves: Choose from 10 pro boarders, select a board modeled on the real thing, and race through a wide array of slalom and obstacle courses. Earn points nailing big-air stunts or making time down the mountain to unlock new courses, players, and special moves. Too bad this fifth installment in the series would’ve only looked and played great back when Centipede was state-of-the-art. Blocky backgrounds and mushy controls make this about as tasty as a mouthful of yellow snow.
