Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex

In a veritable zoo of geriatric gaming mascots (somebody get Donkey Kong a walker already!), it’s good to see that there’s one who’s still a party animal. Observe PS1 spokesbeast Crash Bandicoot, who continues to boogie his way through classic 3-D platform action, albeit in a world that’s now more colorful and trippy than a warehouse rave. This confrontation between Crash and his massively noggined nemesis, Dr. Cortex, is the most innovative yet: You’ll dodge lava streams, play roller derby in a giant space sphere, pilot a jet-propelled scooter, explore the Wild West…and that’s all within the first 15 minutes. Sure, it’s about as mature as a spitball, but who wants to go through life as a tired old ’coot?
