The original Devil May Cry taught us that a guy who dresses like one of Prince’s backup dancers can still be a badass. Outfitted in blood-red gothwear and sporting a silver coif, the Dante character employs two-fisted, John Woo–style gunplay and one big-ass sword to dispatch demon hell-spawn in a third-person action orgy. Part 2 delivers more of the same, while also upgrading some of Dante’s more stylish moves with Matrix-like effects and offering new power-ups that let you transform into a winged demon or unlock an additional playable character (a slinky slayer babe named Lucia). Clunky camera moves hit the occasional sour note, but the eventual showdown with the Dark Lord Currently Known as Satan makes it all well worth the ride.
