Any garden-variety weirdo with a webcam can capture shocking and repulsive (yet entertaining) images. But to use your camera to thwart evil, you’ll need the twin, me-so-vulnerable Japanese shutterbug girlies from Fatal Frame II. When you stumble upon an abandoned village, your camera—instead of the run-of-the-mill Uzi—serves as your only weapon. But on top of capturing precious memories, it’s capable of defeating hostile enemies, revealing clues, and solving puzzles in decaying, blood-spattered environments. Exploring dark buildings and taking snapshots may sound redundant, but stay persistent. Before you get your first set of prints back, you’ll find clues in maps and diaries—even encounter the phantasmagoric—to unravel a plot with more slimy twists than a barrel of Udon noodles.
