If you're still in the dark regarding the reference (you do play video games, right?), hadouken is the maneuver made famous by Ken and Ryu from the Street Fighter series in which they thrust their hands forward and unleashed a fireball toward their enemies. Admittedly, not a very clever name for a band, but definitely novel enough. Hell, it got me to pop the CD in for a listen.
While I'm not really into the whole techno/grime (don't ask, just read) music scene, Hadouken!'s music ain't half bad. The band actually remixes sounds from old Game Boy games into their beats—the jumping sound from Mario in Super Mario Land is very evident in one song. It even elicited a response of, "Hmm, that's not making me want to murder you that much for playing it loudly," from our even more jaded editors. Score!
Take a listen, then think back to when ¿¿¿P meant you didn't have any more to care about than pumping quarters into an arcade machine.
