Despite its blubbery, geriatric figurehead, Madden NFL 2001 delivers gorgeously rendered, fast-paced gameplay.
Electronic Arts did their best to work around Madden and Summeralls stale commentary during the game. Its not only fun to play, but its easily the most realistic football video game ever made. In addition to steering your ball carriers through polygonal mounds of hurt, you can take on even bigger challenges, such as reworking your greedy players contracts as General Manager of your own team. About the only thing Madden doesnt have is the ability to shoot your players up with pain-killers right before kickoff, but theres always next year.
