From Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon to Richard Dean Anderson in MacGyver, it’s obvious that America loves heroes with mullets. Solid Snake, the rough, gruff, and ’80s-stylin’ hero of Konami’s Metal Gear Solid 2 is so cool he may just trigger a resurgence of the hair style. But if not, we’d still love him because this adrenaline rush of a game is nothing short of groundbreaking. The graphics and sound are far above anything you’ve yet to see in a video game, and they aren’t even the best thing about it. Rather, you’ll be more impressed that you can make Snake stare lecherously at a centerfold poster one minute, only to have him pop out and choke someone to death the next. Now that’s the sort of hero we could use in Afghanistan. A guy that could violate the Taliban’s values right before killing them. Are you listening, George W.?
