Finally, the demise of the Mortal Kombat series is upon us. We reviewed this Wii version of the eight-month-old PS2/Xbox game only because Midway swears this is the end of the line for Raiden and Liu Kang. Featuring 65 fighters, the Wii version, like the earlier versions, tosses in everything but the kitchen sink. Naturally, the controls have been appropriately Wii-ified. Waving around the Wiimote allows you to perform your flashy ass-kicking moves. Like all Wii-ified versions of games, it works…most of the time. But those few times it doesn't work will make you so frustrated, you'll shoot lightning out of your eyes at your cats. Instead of working your way through the game's tedious Konquest mode or playing a round of the lame-o Motor Kombat, we suggest downloading the old Mortal Kombat theme—a.k.a. "Techno Syndrome" by the Immortals—while shotgunning a can of warm Bud Light. Bottoms up, asshole!
