New Legends

We salute China’s contributions to modern society—where would America be without fireworks and, um, sticky rice? Ditto for New Legends, a pseudohistorical adventure that serves up a heaping helping of kung-pow. You play as Sun Soo, a ruler wise enough to pack weapons in both fists when evil emperor Xao Gon’s army consumes the land like a pupu platter. With intelligent sidekicks, you’ll kill generals and undead warriors with chains, muskets, or badly overdubbed dialogue. Though the tired scenarios prevent this from being a gourmet experience, on the action-starved Xbox it makes for a satisfying lunch special.
