Sony has decided to capitalize on our nation's fascination with watching other people get maimed and brained. The result: Pain, a $10 downloadable PS3 game that stars a piece of human slingshot fodder named Jarvis. Jarvis, to be frank, is a douche. He's got annoyingly spiked hair and an "xxxtreme" 'tude. Load him into the sling, then fire away, sending him sailing through various cityscapes. Press the X button and Jarvis goes into a cannonball tuck. Use the DualShock's shoulder buttons for tricks and hot dogging. The idea is to hurt Jarvis and to do as much property damage as possible. You'll toss mimes. You'll crash into scampering monkeys. You'll fly through plate-glass windows again. And again. And again. Pain provides enough novel oh-shit moments to entertain you for approximately the duration of the average commercial break. Unless that commercial break happens to include that spot where those mom's try to run over the Burger King. Man, that one always kills us!
