With WWII-themed shooters proliferating like gangrene in a foxhole, POW stands out as that rare exercise in masochism when youre expected to escape a Nazi stalag without so much as a lousy Luger. As captive G.I. Lewis Stone, you stealthily collect info, gear, and reconnaissance on an enemy missile depot before you finally make your, um, great escape. Therell be no tricking secrets out of Colonel Klink with schnapps and show girls, though. Youll rely on wits as you pick locks and scale fences while hauling ass to report for roll calls. Painstaking detail and suspenseful play make this a thinking sofa slugs delight, though the deliberate pace might frustrate action fans. And if its not authentic enough, hell, theres always the History Channel.
