If you’re the type of golfer who prefers windmills to sandtraps, or you think that the whole sport is second to NyQuil on the list of insomnia cures, CyberTiger is the game for you. Throwing out realism for good ol’ fashioned arcade fun, CyberTiger is the golf game for guys who don’t play golf. It also answers the age-old question: What would happen if Tiger Woods and Sonic the Hedgehog had a bastard love child?

Unlike other sports games, CyberTiger relies more on the N64 control stick than the buttons. This makes it harder to swing the club at first, but with practice it gets a lot easier and ultimately a lot more fun. The courses range from basic to outlandish, with the difficulty increasing with the number of cartoon obstacles placed between you and the green. For extra incentive, players get special “power up” abilities for low scores (they range from rocket-boosted drivers to the ability to skip balls across water traps). Invite friends to play the 4-on-4 mode, or the special “Skins Game” feature that makes every hole worth money. It’s a fun game to play during the off-season between finishing NHL 2000 and waiting for NHL 2001.
