World Series Baseball 2K1

The pennant race is heating up, but Dreamcast baseball is cold comfort. Sega’s World Series Baseball 2K1 might fool you into thinking you’re watching a game on television, but (like some supermodels), there isn’t much to it beyond its looks.

While casual fans might be satisfied with a good-looking one-night-stand, anyone who knows a lick about baseball will absolutely hate this game. WSB 2K1 makes you feel like a incompetent manager—you can’t control your fielders, and you can barely control your baserunners. About the only thing you can do is pick your pitch, tell your player when to swing the bat, and pray something happens. Although that might work just fine for the hapless Houston Astros, it doesn’t sit well when playing a video game.
