To the rookie upstarts who trash-talked this veteran MVP, Big John would like to send a message: Get ready to punt. Destined for the Hall of Fame, Madden’s latest namesake (now in its 13th year) improves upon already stunning graphics and amps game play with faster speed and such fresh gridiron moves as sidearm passing and—wahoo!—gang tackling. Special features offer more enhancements than last year’s Patriots lineup: Al Michaels and Melissa Stark give commentary, cheat code cards can be earned at minicamp, and for the first time ever players can compete against each other online. All that’s missing is Madden performing a triumphant end zone dance, which, considering the man’s Jabba-like girth, we can all probably live without.
