Get that fat frickin’ plumber off the green! Oh wait, it’s his course—he shares Mushroom Kingdom’s freaky links with Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, and the usual lineup of Ninten-dudes. There’s more trippy fore play than you can shake a sack of psychoactive fungus at; lob your ball into a “warp pipe” and it pops out elsewhere on a back nine landscaped with obstacles like Chomp Chains, Piranha Plants, and Thwomps. Golfing game standards like club selection, power meter, and control of backspins and topspins satisfy, but the sometimes-clunky controls and confusing camera perspectives will leave you teed-off. Hard-core golf fans should buy it for a kid. Then steal it.
