Take one part Grand Theft Auto and one part car combat game Twisted Metal Black. Mix, ingest, and vomit. Stare wistfully into bowl. What could have been a great game—car carnage with heavy artillery against gangs in cities devastated by a mysterious plague—is only mediocre. Yes, there’s a selection of rockets, mines, machine guns, missiles, 40 different cars, and open-ended, free-roaming environments. Sure, there’s multiplayer action and plenty of pedestrians to mow down, but the been-there-ran-over-that concept and the force-feeding of extremely violent “adult” content will most likely keep your needle stuck on “E.”
