Who says video games can’t deliver quality “family” entertainment? Mafia allows you to build a nice career in the mob as you work your way up the syndicate ladder, from foot soldier to zoot-suited don, back in the dirty ’30s. You begin as humble taxi driver Tommy Angelo, a nice boy from the neighborhood with a lot of ambition…for being greedy and amoral. Missions have you smuggling hooch and knocking off gangland rivals using quaint weapons like tommy guns, knuckle-dusters and Molotov cocktails—hey, it was a simpler frickin’ time! The play and story will ring familiar to anyone who’s played the Grand Theft Auto series—which is good—but the guy responsible for the crummy graphics should slip on a pair of cement galoshes and take a long walk off a short pier.
