Star Fox: Assault

Suiting up cuddly animals in space-age military gear has been Nintendo's obsession for years now (we think it's a Japanese thing), and its latest Star Fox sequel returns to the arcade-shooting style of the ancient Nintendo 64 classic. The game doesn't offer much in the "new" department, but if you're one of those die-hard fans with his own Slippy Toad pajamas, that may be exactly what you were hoping to hear. Phaser-blasting battles with epic star destroyers and land missions on multiple worlds will have you imagining Star Wars Episode III recast with plush toys, plus a multiplayer battle mode is undeniable split-screen dogfighting fun. Still, despite its replay value, this is little more than a restructured stroll down memory lane. Next time, let's hope Nintendo enters the 21st century and puts this puppy online.
