While the other baseball titles are focused on 2005 (a.k.a. the year we’re currently suffering), MLB leaps straight past the Barry Bonds' expanding-head fiasco to 2006. In fairness, the game’s so good, it feels like it came from the near future. Career Mode provides as much off-field as on-field action (argue about playing time, hold out for more money, demand trades), making you feel like a real professional. You’ll also look like a real professional, using the EyeToy to photograph your face and then slap it on a player’s body. There are some new tweaks on the diamond, too. The new Pitcher Confidence Meter adds a psychological twist: paint the corners a few times, and your control grows sharper…but if you're consistently outside, your insecurity will sink you—just like in the bedroom! And when your playing days are over—those thumbs can only stay in shape for so long—switch to Franchise Mode and run your team like a virtual asshole…er, we mean Steinbrenner.
