Kind of like the women in his life, James Bond's video games have run the gamut from being as cool as Ursula Andress in Dr. No to being as dumb as Denise Richards in The World Is Not Enough. On that scale, Russia ranks somewhere around Terry Hatcher in Tomorrow Never Dies: not bad looking, but not the most fun, either. Based on the classic film, and modeled after the classic game Everything or Nothing, Russia is a third-person shooter with sneaking, driving, and jet-packing. (Sadly, the between the sheets action is excluded.) While they do manage to get Sean Connery to say “Bond, James Bond” and other classics, the game, like the 75-year-old actor, isn't as spry as it used to be. Though challenging, it's also sometimes pedestrian, with a host of uninspired levels and dim bad guys ruining what could have been the triumphant return of 007.
