Shaq is back as the 2K cover boy, only this time he's sporting a heavy-duty Fu Manchu mustache that even Richard Roundtree would envy. Yes, our favorite b-ball sim around the office retains its crown for yet another year, mostly because the sweet gameplay keeps on getting sweeter. Defense is much improved. In fact, it's so good that even on the "Basketball for Dummies" setting we had trouble taking it to the hole. And the super-deep "The Association" mode lets you spend endless, blissful days—yes, days—doing pre-draft workouts, depending on how chronic your NBA-OCD is. The only thing missing: a "Visit to the Urologist" mode, where players who've been out skanking around with NBA groupies the night before games (and you know who you are) get inspected for VD. "It burns when we pee, doc!"
