Gangs of London

The heir apparent to the PS2's The Getaway series, as usual, features terrific writing and art design, but gameplay that tastes like day-old fish and chips. Pick a gang—personally we prefer the Chinese and their meat cleavers—then get out there and take back London one block at a time. Driving/shooting missions are balanced out with, um, shooting/driving missions. Like having sex with your wife, you won't do anything here that you haven't already done before. The characters are strong, the dialogue sharp, but unfortunately, the camera tends to reel around during driving missions like it's just woken up from a pub crawl. This game would be awesome…if only those pesky Grand Theft Auto PSP games didn't exist. Since they do, Gangs of London winds up feeling as cheap and hollow as Guinness Light.
