RR 7 does what the series has always done best: It values racing fun over, you know, actual racing physics. The gameplay this time around is drift-centric. You'll need to pull off sweet, never-ending drifts early and often in order to fill those nitrous oxide tanks. (Which you can then use to boost to glory across the finish line.) Pulling off a drift certainly seems easy enough at first—lay off on the gas, and let your car gently fishtail into a turn. Voila! But just wait until the later tracks in the game, when you're drifiting at 200 mph with 10 other cars drifting only a few inches away from your precious jalopy. No, nothing about this disc really screams "next-gen," but it's still a solid, if unsurprising, PS3 launcher.
