EA's terrific Fight Night series basically KO'ed all other boxing titles for all times…except for this obscure little contender. Based on a Japanese comic book-turned-animated series, Victorious Boxers 2 is a sequel in the same way that Evil Dead 2 was a sequel. In other words, it's identical to the first installment, only with higher production values. The cut-scenes gas on endlessly about the trials and tribulations of a doofus boxer named Ippo. The developers mercifully included "skip" and "fast-forward" buttons which help put you back into the ring ASAP. The "Easy" skill setting is a little too easy, "Normal" is a little too hard, and "Hard" is just plain fucking ridiculous. But for a mere $10, pull up your pants and lower your expectations, and you'll definitely get your money's worth.
