So what separates Quake Wars—yet another online multiplayer strategy game—from the countless other games in the genre, including the awesome Battlefield 2124? Well it's set in id's Quake universe and stars the nefarious Strogg (arguably the least interesting of all of id's characters). You can play either for the good guys or the bad guys, depending on how well your meds are working today. In trouble? Simply have a missile launcher airlifted onto the battlefield, and gain the upper hand. The game wisely keeps the action humming along by giving you specific missions to complete, as opposed to having six guys running around in circles sniffing each other's farts. Unfortunately, there's absolutely no offline action—it's either play with others, or don't play at all. Would it have killed you sumbitches to tack on a quickie 10-mission single-player campaign? You know, just to humor us?
