While game play here is standard-issue third-person action (with somewhat stubborn controls), The Simpsons game does do something truly unique: It manages to be really fucking funny. No, not as funny as your average episode of the show, but pretty funny, especially by video game standards. Simply clicking the start button on the 360 version unlocks the "Easiest. Achievement. Ever" achievement. You'll fly around a virtual Springfield as Bartman, float as Helium Homer, and wield Marge's Megaphone Blowback. The game is written by the show's writers, and voiced by the, erm, show's voices. Comic Book Guy chimes when you stumble across a cliché-breakable crates, for example—which also proves that the people who make The Simpsons know a thing or two about video games.
