Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds

If you own a PS3 and haven't played a Hot Shots Golf game prior to this—it's the fifth game in the series—well, today's your lucky day, asshole. The notoriously lo-fi series gets a Blu-ray makeover, but still winds up somehow looking very much like its last-gen counterparts. Sony, to their great credit, did not fuck too much with the already-awesome game play. Remember EA Sports' old it's-in-the-game motto? Well, Hot Shots Golf stands tall as a big cock in the eye to that theory, foregoing photorealistic representations of Pebble Beach and the back nine at Augusta for big, cartoonish, fictional courses that wind up somehow being infinitely more satisfying to play. Aside from a tweaked swing mechanic and 50-person online tournies, game play hasn't changed all that much. Which is just fine by us.
