Speed Racer: The Video Game

The Skinny: The '60s anime gets a 2008 movie makeover starring Christina Ricci as Trixie and that dude from The Girl Next Door, a.k.a. Elisha Cuthbert Never Gets Naked, as Speed Racer himself. This is the game of that movie.

The Good: The game begs, borrows, and steals everything and anything from Nintendo's F-Zero series. Which means the races are as hair-raising as an L.A. freeway during Friday afternoon rush hour.

The Bad: The action turns into a bit of grind after the first hour. Only the hardest of the hard core will unlock Racer X. And if you know what we're talking about, +2 Nerd points for you, jackass.

Shut the F*** Up Dept.: Listening to the constant chatter between races is only slightly less pleasant than listening to your dad's collection of Boxcar Willie albums.
