The Skinny: Coming in just behind the Olympics in this year's "Sports Events You Don't Care About" 100-meter relay, the Euro soccer tournament makes it's return to game consoles.
The Good: If you're a veteran of EA's FIFA series, you'll feel right at home in their latest iteration. The new Captain Your Country mode, which allows you to pick a player and lead your team through the tournament, is genuinely fun to manage
The Bad: Too bad the rest is just a repackaging of FIFA 08. You're paying 60 bucks for a second soccer game by the same developer within an eight-month span and all you're getting are minimal differences in game play (we were actually tackled once by an invisible player), updated rosters, and fewer teams to choose from (FIFA 08 has 621 licensed teams; Euro 2008 has 52).
Hard As a Zakh: How steep is the game's learning curve? Our resident soccer nut and his team, France, lost 3–0 to Kazakhstan on regular settings.
Buy, Rent, or Disembowel? It's a solid rental until the Euro tournament ends in late Junethen you have a month of twirling rainbow batons and badminton to look forward to. Can't. Wait.
