The Skinny: Take the tactics of a real-time strategy game and breed it with a first-person shooter, and voilà, you've got Enemy Territory. This is basically a console port of the PC game of the same name: establish bases, deploy defense perimeters, and ride around in futuristic vehicles.

The Good: The game doles out compelling objectives like 1. blow the sewer grate, 2. get to the control room, etc. Sure you're still trying to gain control of square footage, just like you do in every other game in the genre. But at least the developers offered up a little creativity this time around.

The Bad: No off-line single-player. Come on, Activision/id. Some nights we need some off-line play to let us recover from all the racial epithets spewed at us during Net play.

And the Award for Lamest Evil Alien Race Found in a First-Person Shooter Goes To... The Strogg. Bald guys wearing respirators? That's scary? We'll show you scary. Look at our mortgage payment! Look at it, damn it! Look!
