The Skinny: You’ve been recruited to Bad Company, a group of ragtag soldier misfits on missions for personal fame and fortune.
The Good: EA DICE spent months looking at other first-person shooters on the market and perfecting their own game engine for B:BC. The result is a well-thought-out and complete game experience that includes funny dialogue, a solid story, and a setting that is nearly all destructible.
The Bad: The single player is over before you know it. If you’re obsessive, you won’t mind going back and filling out your weapons cache with the collectibles. But once the story is done, you’ll probably find yourself mostly on multiplayer, which is also a bit shallow. (There is only one mode available at launch.) If there aren’t updates in the near future, you may find yourself migrating back to Call of Duty 4.
Goldmember: The Legionnaire, the mysterious leader of the Russian mercenaries, pays his soldiers in gold bars. We don’t blame himhave you seen the value of the dollar lately?
Buy, Rent, or Disembowel? We’ll go with a rent here. If the game gets a Conquest mode as promised, then maybe it’d be worth a second look.
