The Skinny: A discharged Spec Ops soldier returns home to Shepherd's Glen only to find his brother and father have gone missing. It's up to you to uncover the clues surrounding their sudden disappearance, bringing you back to the macabre town of Silent Hill.
The Good: Okay, we've sufficiently soiled our pants. The sixth installment of the SH series has all the moments of horror you've come to expect: cat-sized beetles looking to suck your face, glowing zombies that resemble walking venus fly traps, and, yes, even nurses with disfigured faces chasing you down with combat knives. The storyline doesn't get too complicated and the button controls are simple enough to keep you from fumbling for too long. The overall environment, like the random sounds you hear piercing the deafening silence, will make you feel like you're reliving worst nightmares.
The Bad: Sixty dollarsespecially with the economy in the toiletis a lot to ask in any case, but especially so when all you're getting is a straightforward game with no multiplayer component whatsoever.
World Traveller: In case you're wondering Silent Hill is located, it's either here, here, or, where most scary people live, New England.
Buy, Rent, or Disembowel? It's a good game, but you'll likely finish it so quickly you can make do with a rental.
