In its quest for world domination (insert mua-ha-ha-ha-ha HERE), EA has invented a skateboarding game that is supposed to make everyone forget all about Tony Hawk's graying franchise. The result: skate is an acquired taste, particularly for those who've been playing Hawk's games for the past decade. It all feels very, very wrong at first. Very wrong. You use the analog sticks, and not the face buttons, to pull off your tricks. By flicking the sticks you can pull off your moves. Want to do a kick flip? Move slightly down and diagonal on the stick. Sound vague? It is. During your first few hours of game play, you'll look like you're auditioning for MTV's Scarred, but once you get the hang of it, you'll see that EA might be onto something here. Verdict: We're not breaking up with Hawk just yet.
